About Mark Pipes

Filtration Manager.
Giving water a helping hand and the pioneer of the original Elliotts Filtration Iron Filtration system.

Mark, coming from a farming and agriculture background, recognized the inherent challenge of working with groundwater quality in WA. However, upon entering the irrigation sector, he quickly realized that the persistent iron fouling of sprinklers and the prevalent iron stain coating buildings and paths throughout the state required immediate attention.

The soluble iron concentrations in West Australian land and water can range from 0 to over 50 ppm (parts per million), rendering conventional iron filtration systems unreliable and ineffective.

To address this issue, we have developed a tailor-made West Australian Iron Filtration System specifically designed for the region’s unique conditions. Our Elliotts Filtration Systems are meticulously crafted to suit the requirements of each site, with manufacturing taking place at our dedicated Filtration division warehouse located in Greenwood, WA.

Over the years, the demand for Mark’s iron filtration systems has significantly increased, driven by the desire to enhance the aesthetics of buildings, paths, and landscapes and the need to eliminate iron fouling in irrigation system pipework. Removing iron from the equation minimises the growth of iron bacteria that thrive on it, effectively eliminating the troublesome clogging of sprinklers.

With a remarkable track record spanning over 30 years, Mark has cultivated strong relationships with numerous councils, private irrigation companies, and his peers in the industry.

Mark Pipes’ unwavering dedication, dependability, reliability, and diligence are intrinsic to his character. Moreover, his commitment to providing exceptional follow-up service ensures that these relationships endure well into the future. These values and principles are instilled and passed down to every member of the filtration team.

As the Manager of Elliotts Filtration, Mark assumes the crucial responsibility of recruiting and training new technicians with utmost seriousness and care. The recruitment process is meticulous, and the training imparted is comprehensive, ensuring that the team maintains the highest standards of expertise and professionalism.

How the Elliotts Filtration Iron Filtration System Works.

Mark has revolutionized the Perth Bore Water Iron Filtration field with his innovative system that effectively filters iron from raw bore water through a two-part process, eliminating the need for chemicals and media replacement over time.

The first step is oxidation, where the air is injected into the raw bore water via an aeration pump and venturi. This initiates the iron oxidation process, preparing it for the next stage.

Following oxidation, the water flows through a naturally occurring catalytic media that removes the precipitated iron effortlessly. This filtration process ensures that the water delivered to the desired destination, whether it’s irrigation for the field or a water tank, is clean and iron-free.

What makes this system truly remarkable is its chemical-free nature and self-cleaning capability. Additionally, Mark has ingeniously designed these systems to be fully automatic, allowing for potential remote operation and control and enhancing convenience and efficiency.

To maintain the specialized systems’ performance and ensure efficient operation, it is highly recommended that Elliotts Filtration’s specialized technicians handle all maintenance tasks. Repair and maintenance of these systems require a deep understanding of their unique operating characteristics, making it crucial to rely on qualified experts.
By entrusting the maintenance to our technicians, you can be confident that each system will operate smoothly, with cost-effectiveness, and uphold the expected high water quality standards.

Is your system environmentally sustainable?

This continuing advancement in Elliotts Irrigation and Iron Filtration systems has a rippling effect on best practices and sustainability. Using SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technology to maintain the flow of water being supplied as efficiently and as required, especially with our extreme weather conditions and, in turn, water restrictions, the system can be remotely turned off to avoid delays in getting to leaks, breaks or any other reason there may be water wastage.

When the system self-cleans during backwash, this dirty water can be reused for irrigation purposes. This allows for zero wasted water, as with systems completed for the City of Subiaco and the City of Perth.

The Elliotts Iron Filtration system has come extremely far in its advancement environmentally.

The addition of saving costs on call-out and irrigation maintenance for councils across Perth is a bonus and a testament to the clean water research Mark Pipes has carried out.  Allowing future water and cost savings becoming foreseeable.
